MARKET ANALYSIS - FABRIC SOURCING - DESIGN - MANUFACTURE - SUPPLY
Established in 1992.
Brian Steinberg (The Founder / President) of VÊTEMENTS T.F.C. EXPRESS INC.
Invested his savings in a stock lot from India.
The lot consisted of Men's flannel shirts and Men's suede vests.
Through hard work and persistence, Brian managed to sell each and every piece.
End of the 1990's.
T.F.C. was invited to a trade show organized by the Mexico Government. The mandate was to give retailers - headquartered in Mexico the opportunity to meet international manufacturers. This was the first time that T.F.C. was doing business outside of Canada. It was FOB business.
As knit, and woven business increased T.F.C. relocated to a larger office space. The new office was located in Dollard-Des-Ormeaux.
Early 2000's.
T.F.C. started receiving sweater inquiries. While India was not known for manufacturing sweaters T.F.C. pivoted in a different direction.
After 3 flights and 35-hours of travel Brian arrived in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Upon arrival Brian was thoroughly searched by two military guards. Both guards had a machine gun in one hand and a German Shepard on a leash in the other hand. The purpose of this trip was to source the best sweater factories and to further establish Woven and Knit manufacturing in Bangladesh. T.F.C. was eventually occupying lines in the most reputable facilities.
2005
At the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bangladesh, Brian met with the Director of Imports for one of the largest retailers in Brazil.Brian was invited to Porto Alegre Brazil where he once again met with the Director. This retailer's objective was to produce a percentage of product in Bangladesh.T.F.C. was the first to be given the opportunity. After the Director reviewed Brian's samples the Director called the Ladies buyer. "I need you to buy 30,000 blouses from Brian"The buyer responded "I don't know Brian I can't do that"'The Director' responded "I know Brian"When Brian returned to Montreal T.F.C. received POs for 30,000 Ladies Blouses. This was the beginning of a very special relationship with the Brazil clothing market.
T.F.C. was placing volume in both Bangladesh and India for retailers in Canada, Mexico and Brazil. T.F.C. started garnering attention from retailers and brands around the world including... FIFA, New Balance, European retailers ...

Retailers / Suppliers have an ample opportunity to make a positive impact in an industry that has been criticized for various compliance issues dating back hundreds of years.
The reality of the situation is that if you have the power to buy product you must understand who you're buying from.
It is essential to see the industry as a whole rather than one side.
Drastic measures and fast change will backfire in an industry that requires financial capital to be tied up for long periods of time.
